Effects of Resistive Diaphragmatic Training on the Pulmonary Functions in patients with Chronic Stroke

Background: Stroke is the leading cause of death and disability worldwide. It a cerebrovascular disease, characterized by decreased blood supply to brain tissues. known that patients with stroke have respiratory muscle weakness. Aim: To evaluate effects Resistive Diaphragmatic Breathing Exercises on pulmonary functions in chronic stroke. Method: A randomized controlled trial was conducted. 20 subjects were recruited based inclusion exclusion criteria allocated Group B. Assessment Pulmonary Functions undertaken Digital incentive Spirometer. received treatment Incentive B Spirometer training also inspiratory Muscle (IMT), Exercises. 3 sessions per week for 4 weeks given each patient. The two groups reassessed after treatment. Follow up taken completion Data analyzed using SPSS 21. Results: There statistically significant change within both VC, FVC, PEF, SPO2 FEV1 FEV1/FVC p- value < 0.05. Both effective but along technique showed more improvement. Conclusion: breathing exercises found better than simple spirometer improving functions. Resistance through Thera bands at sternal costal level results. results VC FEV.
